Elena Mas Marzá graduated in Chemistry from the Universitat Jaume I (Castellón-Spain) in 2002, where she also received her PhD degree in Chemistry in 2006, under the supervision of Prof. Eduardo Peris. Her research was focus on the design of catalysts with N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands in new topologies and their catalytic applications. In 2007, she joined Prof. Antoni Llobet's group at the Institut Català d'Investigació Química (ICIQ) as a postdoctoral associate, where she worked on the study of ruthenium complexes for water oxidation processes. During 2008-2009, she was a postdoctoral associate at Prof. Mike Whittlesey's group at the University of Bath, working on the coordination and activation of small molecules by ruthenium complexes. In January 2010, she moved to University of Castellón with Prof. Eduardo Peris, as a Juan de la Cierva researcher, where she studied catalytic hydrogen-borrowing processes for the activation of CO2 and NH3 to obtain organic molecules with added value. In June 2012, she joined Prof. Rosario Fernández and Prof. Jose Mª Lassaletta's group at University of Sevilla, as a Ramón y Cajal researcher, where she focused on the design and synthesis of ligands for enantioselective catalysis. In November 2013 she moved at the Photovoltaic and Optoelectronic Devices Group at Universitat Jaume I, as a Ramón y Cajal, and became permanent at the Physics Department in June 2017. Since then her interests have been focused on the design of solar cells and the development of photoelectronic devices for chemical applications.
