The Magnetic Materials and Spintronic Devices Group at Universitat Jaume I (SPINAD LAB) is seeking candidates to apply a research grant to carry out a PhD from Generalitat Valenciana (ACIF) to carry out a four-year PhD thesis in the field of magnetic materials. The estimated application date for the grant will be next November. Candidates must hold a degree issued by a Spanish or foreigner university: Architecture, Engineering, or bachelor obtained after January 1, 2021, and be admitted to a doctoral program at a university in the Valencian Community. Alternatively, candidates may hold one of the aforementioned degrees along with a Master’s degree, or be enrolled in an official Master’s program that grants access to a doctoral program. In the case of validated degrees to the Spanish system, the date of degree award will be considered, not the homologation date.
As a specific requirement for the research projects carried out by the group, candidates must hold a degree in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Possession of a Master’s degree related to Physics or Materials Science will be considered an additional merit.
The proposed PhD project will be within the group’s research topics and will focus on the study of magnetic materials for the development of new memory and computing systems. During the thesis, the candidate will work on the development and fabrication of magnetic thin films using deposition techniques, the design and fabrication of micro- and nanoscale devices, and the magnetic and electrical characterization of thin films and electronic devices, the latter using probes. In addition, the PhD candidate will carry out basic structural characterizations using electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, among others.
The Magnetic Materials and Spintronic Devices Group (SPINAD LAB) at Universitat Jaume I (Castelló, Spain) is looking for candidates to apply for a Predoctoral Research Contract Grant (ACIF) funded by the Generalitat Valenciana.

Application deadline (estimated): November 2025
Location: Institute of Advanced Materials, Universitat Jaume I, Castelló, Spain
Duration: 4 years

About the PhD Project

The successful candidate will join our team to carry out a doctoral thesis in magnetic materials for next-generation memory and computing systems. The project will involve:
• Development and fabrication of magnetic thin films using advanced deposition techniques
• Design and nanofabrication of micro- and nanoscale spintronic devices
• Magnetic and electrical characterization of thin films and devices (including probe-based measurements)
• Structural characterization using electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and related techniques

Candidate Profile
Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements of the ACIF program:
• Hold a degree (Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar) obtained after January 1, 2021
• Be admitted (or eligible for admission) to a doctoral program at a university in the Valencian Community
• Possession of a Master’s degree in Physics or Materials Science will be considered an additional merit

Why Join Us?
SPINAD LAB conducts cutting-edge research on magnetic materials, spintronics, and nanodevices, combining materials synthesis, device fabrication, and advanced characterization. You will join a dynamic group with strong international collaborations and opportunities for training and mobility.
