INAM is looking for future candidates to apply for diferent Predoc Positions to develop your research career with us.
First. Purpose and Duration
1.1. Collaborate on projects associated with the INAM (Institute of Advanced Materials) research group, with responsibilities as a predoctoral researcher in training, Group A, Subgroup A1.
Duties: The research will focus on areas such as the development of new chemical compounds by derivatizing biomass-derived compounds, as well as the hydrogenation and dehydrogenation of hydrogen carriers for energy storage. The objective is to develop materials and processes for the electrocatalytic and photoelectrocatalytic synthesis of molecules relevant to the chemical industry and for green fuels. The study will also examine the kinetics and physicochemical properties of these devices, combining electrochemical and analytical methods. The candidate will gain experience in optimizing catalytic chemical processes, conducting advanced opto/electrical and photoelectrochemical measurements, and performing data analysis. Knowledge in organic synthesis, analytical techniques for identifying chemical species in solution, surface characterization techniques, and experience in the fabrication of materials, electrodes, and devices will be valued.
1.2. The duration of contracts derived from this pool will be linked to the duration of the projects and the available budget.
Second. Requirements
Applicants for this call must meet the following requirements:
2.1 Hold a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or an equivalent field. For degrees obtained abroad, proof of the equivalent recognition, certification, or credential must be provided as applicable.
This requirement does not apply to candidates who have obtained professional qualification recognition within the scope of regulated professions under EU law.
For foreign degrees not yet approved or recognized at the application deadline, proof of application for recognition will be accepted if the qualification is presumed equivalent. The contract will be terminated if recognition is denied or conditioned on requirements that are not met.
2.2. The predoctoral contract will be formalized upon admission to a doctoral program at Jaume I University, for which the selected candidate must hold a completed Master’s degree.
2.3. Must not hold a doctoral degree.
These requirements must be met by the application deadline and remain in effect until the employment contract is signed.
Third. Preferred Qualifications
Research experience in:
Organic synthesis
Structural elucidation of organic compounds (NMR, MS)
Spectroscopic measurements (UV-Vis, IR, FTIR)
Techniques such as HPLC, LC, GC, ICP-mass, etc.
XRD, SEM, TEM measurements
Catalysis, electrocatalysis, or photocatalysis
Candidates with the following characteristics are sought:
Strongly motivated to pursue a career in scientific research
Excellent academic performance in undergraduate and master’s studies
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Fluency in English
Basic knowledge of chemical software (e.g., ChemDraw, Reaxys) is also valued.
