Abstract:

This seminar addresses a modified methods for the generation of non-thermal, low-temperature plasmas for technological applications, named Asymmetric Bipolar Pulsed Plasma (ABiPPS). It will be showed some possible application and realizations through ABiPPS at Plasma Laboratory in University of Stat of Santa Catarina, Brazil. The asymmetric pulsed bipolar power supply can be adjustable in frequency, amplitude, pulsewidth, and number of pulses. Short period positive pulses (nanoseconds), between longer negative pulses (microseconds), increase greatly the secondary electron emission from the electrodes and, consequently, the plasma ionization rate. The intensity of the positive and negative pulses can be varied independently. The plasma generated in this way is free of electric arc and can be kept stable within a broader range of operating parameters, mainly the voltage and the working gas pressure. It will be highlighting the ABiPPS plasma properties which, in turn, may lead to a wide range of technological applications, including deposition of thin films at low temperature and high crystallinity.
