Abstract: 

Organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) are gaining significant attention in fields ranging from bioelectronics to soft robotics due to their unique ability to modulate electronic conductivity through ionic interactions. The presentation will provide the fundamental operation mechanisms of OECTs in their simultaneous ionic and electronic transport properties. The structure and material composition of OECTs, focusing on the role of organic mixed ionic-electronic conductors (OMIECs), and their interaction with electrolytes under biasing conditions will be discussed. The talk will delve into the principles of ionic doping and de-doping, which regulate the conductivity of the channel and thus the source-drain current. Key operational modes, including enhancement and depletion, will be explained to provide a clear understanding of how gate voltage controls channel behavior.
