Venkatesan Jayaraman

Bio and research interests
Venkatesan Jayaraman received his M.Sc. in Physics from Thiruvalluvar University in 2015 and his M.Phil. in Physics from Periyar University (2017) in Tamil Nadu, India. He graduated from the SRM Institute of Science and Technology in 2022 with a Ph.D. in Physics. He joined in the Professor Do-Heyoung Kim research group at Chonnam National University in South Korea in September 2022, and he worked on a water splitting project there for two and a half years. His work in the realm of photocatalysis has focused on the interface between metal oxides and graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) for the treatment of wastewater. Transition metal nitrides, also known as interstitial nitrides, and pyrochlore metal oxides are the materials that he has been working on that are based on non-platinum group metals (PGM) in the field of electrochemistry. He has already published 28 peer-reviewed papers with an h-index of 16 and 993 citations. He relocated as a post-doctoral researcher to Universitat Jaume I in Castellón, Spain, in May 2025. The areas of his current research interests include photoelectrocatalysis, electrocatalysis, supercapacitors, and photocatalysis towards zero carbon footprints. Additionally, he concentrates on energy conversion processes based on emerging materials for water electrolysis using single atom catalysts (SACs).
