Victor Batista

Bio and research interests
Victor de Sousa Batista has obtained B. Sc, M. Sc and PhD degrees in Chemistry at São Paulo State University (UNESP), in the years of 2017, 2019 and 2022, respectively. During this period he worked at, and helped built, the research group named Laboratory of Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Synthesis and Molecular Modeling (LAQMedSOMM), located at the Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry department of the of São Paulo State University's (UNESP) Institute of Chemistry, in Araraquara, Brazil. Has experience in Medicinal Chemistry, with emphasis on Computational Chemistry, focused on docking-based Comparative Intermolecular Contacts Analysis (dbCICA) studies towards the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors of the α4β2, α3β4 and α7 subtypes, as well as in organic synthesis of aromatic amides by coupling reactions. Has also experience with molecular modelling studies of the human enzyme Topoisomerase IIα and with the Cytochrome bc1 from the species Plasmodium Falciparum, and have contributed to works of natural products chemists by simulating NMR spectra of Spirocyclic lactams and curvulinic acid derivatives by DFT. Currently working as technician at BioComp research group at Universitat Jaume I, working on the project entitled "A COMBINED THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL APPROACH TO THE RATIONAL DESIGN OF HIGH VALUE CHEMICALS WITH IMPLICATIONS FOR BIOTHERAPEUTIC ENGINEERING", focusing on QM/MM studies of inhibitors of human Proteasome 20S.
