Applications of Advanced Materials course (100 hours, 4th year students)

OBJECTIVE
This course is intended as a continuation of the Advanced Materials Laboratory course This course is aimed at students of the fourth year of the Degrees in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. The objective of the course is to develop a research project in the applications of catalytic and photo-active materials. In the first place, an introductory talk will be given about the course. The students will perform a research stay in one of the Research Units of the institute, where they will work together with a PhD student or postdoc in the preparation and characterization of devices and systems based on catalytic and opto-electronic electrodes and molecules. The students will be trained in the use of the tools employed in research laboratory: bibliography, preparation and advanced characterization and dissemination. Finally, a report will be prepared where they will train the skills in the preparation of technical and research reports. Additionally, at the end of the course, the students will give an oral presentation about the results obtained. With this course, the participants will have a real contact with an advanced research of high scientific impact. The course is 100 hours, recognized with 2 credits.
