Starting Research course (40 hours, 1st year students)

OBJECTIVE
This course is aimed at students of the first year of the Degrees in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. The objective of the course is to start training attendees in the foundations of applied research in the field of new materials for catalysis, energy production and energy storage. Firstly, a talk will be given to the students to introduce them to the context of the course. Next, a research workshop will be carried out within the research lines of the Institute of Advanced Materials, where students will manufacture their own materials for catalysts, photoelectrodes, solar cells and opto-electronic devices. Afterwards, the student will learn the basic characterization techniques of these devices. Finally, a report will be prepared where the necessary skills for the development of research/technical reports will be assessed. With this course, students will achieve the basic knowledge and techniques necessary for scientific and technical research. The course duration is 40 hours, recognized with 2 credits.
