PROJECT: HEPAFLEX, High-Efficiency Perovskites on Flexible Substrates for Sustainable Applications.

Name of the research group: Group of multifunctional materials.

Offer description: The post is available as part of the HEPAFLEX European Project, involving 10 European partners, that will start at the end of 2023. The principal investigator of UJI partner is Prof. Iván Mora-Seró. The objective of the project is to achieve a sustainable photovoltaic technology based on Halide Perovskites and manufacturing circularity: flexibility, versatility, replacement, and recycling.
Our role in the consortium is: (1) to monitor the environmental impacts and human health toxicity of the substances (precursors, additives and solvents) and the processing routes, promoting safe and more sustainable perovskite precursors by design; (2) to monitor potential critical materials, avoiding the use of supply risk materials for the EU; (3) to focus on the recycling and environmental damage palliation of the devices.

In this project, there is a position available to develop mainly experimental work. This work will allow the hired person to defend a Doctoral Thesis at the end of her/his contract The person who will be hired will focus on:

- Preparation of halide perovskite photovoltaic devices through more sustainable procedures
- Developing protocols for the recycling of Pb, Cs, transparent conductive oxides and other valuable components to mitigate the use of potential critical materials.

Skills/Qualifications: The following general skills requested are:
• Strongly motivated to develop a scientific research career.
• Excellent results obtained during the studies graduated.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Fluent in English.

Specific Requirements: The candidates must be Graduated in Chemistry (preferred), Engineering or Physics, AND Master in similar areas (materials chemistry, analytical chemistry, etc.)
Experience with analytical chemistry methods, preparation of halide perovskite materials and solar cells, as well as characterization techniques will be important.
We will consider previous experience (accredited) with:
- Synthesis of materials (especially halide perovskites).
- Experience in thin film deposition and fabrication of optoelectronic devices.
- Experience in Analytical Chemistry (chemical digestions, sonication treatments, etc.), in recycling and recovery of chemical species.
- Experience with elemental, structural, chemical, optical or electrical characterization of materials and optoelectronic devices.

Additional Information: The candidate shall be appointed with a full-time (37.5 hours/week) employment contract for periods of one year, renewable for a total of up to three years, according to the Spanish legislation and covered under the Spanish social security scheme. The estimated start date is 1st of November 2023, but could vary depending of the selection process or visa process.
For the selection process, applications will be evaluated for technical and eligibility requirements at the end for the application process. The best applications overcoming those requirements will be shortlisted, and asked for an interview. The interview will be arranged at convenience of both parts.
