RESEARCHER PROFILE
Doctoral Candidate (DC) to be enrolled in a PhD programme

OFFER DESCRIPTION

We seek an outstanding Doctoral Candidate to study multicomponent networks based on a biopolymer and a LMWG to be applied at the interface of skin. The Doctoral Candidate (DC) will be hired within the Doctoral Network MultiSMART, composed of 6 Universities, 1 Research Institute and 3 Private Sector partners (from France, Spain, The Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom) who will hire 11 PhD students in total. The DC will be enrolled in the PhD program of the University Jaume I de Castellón. Mobility as well as excellent scientific and soft-skill qualifications of the DC will be promoted throughout the network with (i) common research goals, (ii) two temporary 3-months stays at network partners (secondments), one being in the private sector, (iii) regular schools and workshops. The Doctoral Network is financed by the European Union under the framework of the program HORIZON Europe, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. The DC will be hired for 36 months under contract by the University Jaume I de Castellón with a monthly gross salary of 3704,2 € (including mobility but excluding family allowance) or 4364,2 € (including mobility and family allowances). The family allowance depends on the marital status of the DC.

Anyone with a master‘s degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related fields is encouraged to apply (all nationalities and gender) with interest in Supramolecular Chemistry, Material Science and Biomimetic Chemistry. The project will be developed in close collaboration with Príncipe Felipe Research Center (CIPF, Valencia). Goals of the PhD project include i) synthesis of low molecular weight gelators, ii) preparation and characterization of multicomponent supramolecular materials involving biopolymers and low molecular weight compounds (i.e. hydrogels), iii) permeation experiments in organotypic skin models developed from human skin, iv) use as scaffolds for the controlled growth of melanoma 3D spheroid/organoid models (secondment).
If these topics and tasks catch your attention and you want to join our team, please send a letter of motivation (max 1 page), diplomas with grades, an extended CV (including list of publications if applicable, list of skills, and contact details of at least 2 referees), and two letters of reference.
