Professor Iván Sorribes, Principal Investigator at the Institute of Advances Materials (INAM) and group leader of the Materials for Sustainable Chemistry group (MatSusChem) at the University Jaume I is seeking for a candidate to pursue a research contract in the area of chemistry and materials science. The research project deals with the preparation and characterization of advanced materials with high control at the nanoscale and their application as heterogeneous catalysts for the development of hydrogen storage systems and for transition metal-catalyzed organic synthesis. The position is for two years with a gross salary of approximately 1600 euros/month. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Chemistry and, ideally, a master's degree (or be close to receive it) in this field or allied areas. Previous experience in research, English communication skills, and motivation for research will be highly advantageous.

This position constitutes a perfect environment for the training of the candidate in scientific research in the fields of Chemistry and Nanomaterials, providing him/her with the necessary skills to undertake autonomous research in the aforementioned fields. The candidate will gain experience on state-of-the-art microscopy and spectroscopy characterization techniques, which will be used to unravel the atomic structure and electronic properties of the prepared materials and correlate them with their catalytic activity. In addition, it will also allow the candidate to acquire knowledge on chromatography and spectroscopy techniques used for the quantification and characterization of reaction products. In conclusion, it will provide ideas, experiences, knowledge, skills and new future approaches towards his/her professional development.
