Two research contracts are available at the Institute of Advanced Materials (INAM) of the University Jaume I (UJI) to work in the area of chemistry and materials science. The research projects deal with the preparation and characterization of advanced materials with high control at the nanoscale and their application as heterogeneous catalysts for the development of hydrogen release/storage systems and for transition metal-catalyzed organic synthesis through thermal and photocatalytic reactions. The positions are for 2-3 years with a gross salary of approximately 1600 euros/month and include the
possibility to join a PhD program. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Chemistry (or allied areas) and, ideally, a master's degree or be close to receive it. Previous experience in research,
English communication skills, and motivation for research will be highly advantageous. These positions constitute a perfect environment for the training of the candidates in scientific research in the fields of Chemistry and Nanomaterials, providing them with the necessary skills to undertake autonomous research in the aforementioned fields. The candidates will gain experience on state-of-the-art microscopy and spectroscopy characterization techniques, which will be used to unravel the atomic structure and electronic properties of the prepared nanomaterials and correlate them with their catalytic activity. In addition, it will also allow the candidates to acquire knowledge on chromatography and spectroscopy techniques used for the quantification and characterization of reaction products. In conclusion, it will provide ideas, experiences, knowledge, skills and new future approaches towards their professional development.
