The Institute of Advanced Materials has held the First Annual Symposium on november 7th 2022 at the Conference Room of the Faculty of Health Science at UJI. The aim was to organise a multidisciplinary meeting with top rank keynote speakers and networking sessions with the members of the INAM and other visiting scientists.

The opening of the meeting was carried out by the Vice-Rector for Innovation and Transfer of the University Jaume I, David Cabedo, followed by the presentation of the 2021-2022 Biennial Report of INAM given by Dr. Elena Mas and Prof. Beatriu Escuder as members of the Direction of INAM.

Afterwards, we had the opportunity to hear Prof. Hermenegildo García, Prof. Maria Escudero and Dr. María Jesús Vicent talks.

Prof. Hermengildo García, from the Institute of Chemical Technology of the Technical University of Valencia, gave a very didactic and outstanding lecture on the design and use of Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for photocatalytic applications, facing actual challenges related to climate change.

Prof. Maria Escudero, ICREA Research Professor and Group Leader at Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, gave an encouraging lecture on basic and fundamental knowledge of electrochemical processes and their application on fuel cells. She pointed out the urgent need to contribute to the decarbonisation process and create a more sustainable chemical industry.

Dr. María Jesús Vicent, Head of the Polymer Therapeutics Lab at the Principe Felipe Research Center, gave an inspiring lecture on the design rules for polymer materials to be applied in personalized nanomedicine. She pointed out the paramount role of a fine tuning of material structural properties for, not only the organ-targeted delivery of drugs, but also to construct nanocarriers adapted to patient heterogeneity.

Finally, PhD researchers of INAM took part in the poster session with more than 25 posters hanged. Later on the IPs accompanied the invited speakers around the INAM facilities showing them the new laboratories.
