Summary/Abstract:
MASS-UP aims to create persistent 3D superstructures using simple organic building blocks by reversible self-assembly in water. We aim to use an "active polymerization strategy” (APS) to enable the autonomous production of covalent but reversible polymers that can undergo supramolecular polymerization by non-covalent interaction under kinetic control. These polymers will have active clip ends and transiently active centers that will interlock different secondary and tertiary assemblies into giant superstructures that can potentially span hundreds of microns in 3Dimensions.
